The Story Behind Meeta’s: How Tradition Inspires Every Stitch
When I started Meeta’s in September 2021, it wasn’t just the beginning of a business — it was the continuation of a story passed down through generations. My name is Mridula, and I grew up surrounded by fabrics, textures, and stories woven into every thread. From my mother draping her cherished handloom sarees to visits with my grandmother who stitched her own kurtas with the softest cottons — tradition was not just around me, it was a part of me.
Meeta’s is named after a woman who inspired my journey — a woman who believed that simplicity can be powerful, and grace doesn’t have to be loud. With no prior experience in fashion or e-commerce, I took a leap of faith. I wanted to bring something meaningful into the wardrobes of Indian women — something that carried the warmth of heritage but felt fresh, modern, and wearable every day.
A Brand Woven with Purpose
At Meeta’s, every product is more than just a garment. Our handblock printed suits, Banarasi sets, co-ords, and kurtas are created with care — using fabrics that speak of Indian heritage, and silhouettes that fit the life of a modern woman. I don’t chase trends. Instead, I listen to stories — of artisans, of mothers, of working women, of homemakers — and try to reflect their strength and softness in every piece we create.
We work with skilled artisans from various Indian states, especially Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh, where traditional techniques like Sanganeri handblock printing and Banarasi weaving have thrived for centuries. These crafts are not just beautiful — they’re sustainable, slow, and soulful.
Balancing Home and Heritage
Running Meeta’s is not always easy. I’m also a homemaker, a mother, and a woman learning on the go. I manage the website, create social media content, oversee fabric sourcing, production, marketing, and every little stitch in between — all on my own.
There are days I feel overwhelmed, but every time a customer says, “I felt beautiful in your kurta,” or “This reminds me of my nani’s suit,” I feel seen. That’s when I know I’m not just selling clothes. I’m reviving emotions, memories, and identity — one outfit at a time.
Looking Ahead with Heart
Meeta’s is still growing, and I have so many dreams for it. I want to reach women who love dressing up for festivals, family gatherings, or just a regular day when they want to feel special. I want them to wear Meeta’s and feel rooted, graceful, and empowered.
If you’ve ever worn a piece from Meeta’s, you’ve worn a part of my journey, my sleepless nights, my belief in slow fashion, and my respect for tradition. Thank you for being part of this story.
Love,
Mridula Bagrodia
